I've also read that though they officially belonged to the USAF the CIA for all intents and purposes owned a couple themselves.

Oh yes I know several groups were involved with the program. I've known people in the intelligence field, military and defense contractors. The one common thread? They don't advertiser what they did. What few things I did I was order to talk about it, and though some of it's public record I still honor the order. Also for the record I did nothing impressive, but felt I helped.

Actually most don't though the military offers some scholarships. They get credits for the classes they take and a minor in military science and then serve their country afterwards.

People in every field have gone berserk and killed other people. Authors have killed themselves, so feel free to take that route. Though those were usually good writers.

Of course there were civilian pilots. The only person here who tried to trip me up on SR71 pilots dug out a list of those killed in combat. The problem (other than that not all names would ever appear on such a publicly accessible list) is that two-thirds of the list provided names without ranks, ergo civilians. I loved that one.

Again, go read the book by Francis Gary Powers, Operation Overflight, about being shot down in a U2 over the Soviet Union. He was flying as a civilian. If he hadn't decommissioned first, his overflight would have been an act of war. As it was, they could have just shot him as a spy since he wasn't covered by the Geneva Convention (and truth be known, he wasn't supposed to let himself be captured alive--I think he covers that in his book too).

And beyond that, once again, why this red herring on either this thread topic or this Web site purpose? Isn't it because folks don't want to face and try to defend the crazy Guns-R-Us situation the United States--and pretty much only the United States in the civilized world--has backed itself into while meanwhile, folks are being whacked off left and right by gun-toting nuts?

I don't think it's impossible. I don't believe this guy.

I know many who are proud about what they've done, but specifics are often left out for good reason. I've heard many things of beers, but posting it online is something different.

I told you what I did was as civilian, and so did many others. The government doesn't like giving out veteran's status, but many do their part for their country. Their efforts should be recognized, but often can't be for reasons of secrecy. That doesn't make their service less honorable.

The point is that there is no divine rule that says a ROTC cadet won't go berserk and shoot people--just like any other kind of nut who has done so and seemed normal up to that point and conveniently had an assault rifle at hand. There's no divine rule that says they won't choose to do so during a preannounced drill on campus either. In fact, that would be a perfect opportunity to do so.

She's obviously a political activist who is trying to establish that guns have no business on college campuses. I agree with her. So your dipshit is my heroine. Live with it. She's not the one being crazy on this issue and those in nearly every other civilized nation on earth will agree with her.
