I really wish people would stop putting words in my mouth and projecting their biases onto me. I said nothing about defending AI, you did! So ask me before assuming that I'm lazy or anything. I have been writing way before AI and I'm good at it.

I thought AI was supposed to help writers flesh out their thoughts and stories to make them better. If they are so bad, then why are AI platforms sprouting out as we speak? I don't use AI to generate stories because they miss the mark on what i want to create. I am very capable of making up shit as I go along and spelling/grammar checking later. If that means that I'm not a writer, then whatever. I have nothing to prove to anyone.

To say we have some opinionated folks here is an understatment and they aren't shy. So if someone disagrees with you, you're going to hear about it.
And we have a lot of regular contributors that do not like each other. So a thread can and will turn into a dog fight when someone disagrees with someone who disagrees with you. At this point it's not about you.
It's a rather rough crowd to feel accepted by.

I saw someone say that maybe if you are using AI to help you write a novel (as you state on Reddit), that novel has no place here. That’s not the same as saying you have no place here. It’s just a statement of site rules.

Okay, but I came in peace, and yet their unwarranted bullying because I said something they did not like warrants that signature. They welcome sex advertising, barely legal, and incest stories with open arms here, but any AI talk is unwelcome.

It may be true that some of us around here are guilty of the "not this again" fallacy (I imagine there's actually a term for it, but I don't know it), in which a new person singing an old tune gets rebuked as if they should know we're over that topic. Questions about AI or Lit's age policies or reusing other writers' characters or needing a woman's perspective on a story or etc. etc. etc. may garner a few dismissive meme responses or a version of "and... drink."

Then again, when you start a new thread there is a handy feature that highlights threads with similar content, asking Is this already being discussed?

We're human here. I'm sure we could do better. But I've seen worse.
