Might get banned for this....

You don't learn much about writing here....
You are welcomed until you offer an opinion that differs from the toxic fan club that dominate this forum...
Dare to offer an opinion that doesn't align with theirs and they jump on you like the mean kids club from high school.
They'll simply rant and rave... Demanding you accept they're right and you're wrong...
That's been my experience... Dare to stand up, and they'll just dump om you...
I dip into the AH only occasionally these days... It's much better for your mental health...
Good luck in storytelling....
Oh... That's only my opinion...

I have a familiar experience in this forum. Except for a handful of writers, the rest of them have made me feel unwelcome which is why I do not start thread or usually post.
I have been told to grow up when I mentioned the toxicity of AH.
I have told to stop wanting to get in an author's panties because I defended her.
These are the mild examples.
This is a social media and it is at par with the other negativity of the other social media sites.

I am down to writing my poor quality porn/smut that some degenerate and idiots might like and if I have a real writing question, ask the few (less than 5) people who have been nice to me.

Respectfully disagree. There is a plethora of help, opinions, feedback, and resources available from people across the whole spectrum of writing experience. I've seen plenty of civil discourse where people have differing opinions about an approach and can amicably accept that people have different styles and opinions, and that's that.

This is my experience as well. Reports of toxicity are highly exaggerated. It's often the case that the people who complain the loudest about this forum's negativity are those most likely to bring it. They obsess about the negative and overlook the positive. They don't take disagreement well. They're looking for something to get mad about. They heighten the drama and acrimony. They're looking for ways to find bad faith in those with whom they disagree.

The reality is that this forum is full of intelligent, well-educated, well-meaning people from a diversity of backgrounds who have a genuine interest in writing and want to share ideas about the craft and also have fun side conversations on other topics. There's plenty of humor and insight. When people ask questions, they're likely to get plenty of helpful answers.

Again we are discussing word usage. Manu and Laurel own the site, it is their domain, and they are the king and queen. They can censor or to use your less harsh term reject any story they want using any excuse they want. If you wish to call it rejection so be it but I choose to call it censorship. I don't attack your choice of a word so don't attack mine. Per the definition of a debate, this is not one
Well, as a writer, words and their meanings are important to me. 🤷‍♂️

There are a range of opinions here about the use of AI in writing, or anything else for that matter.
But the bottom line is if you are using it in your writing you can't publish it here.
So, even for those of us who have more moderate views than the "AI is useless slop" crowd don't see much point in discussing it here.
It's a bit like discussing techniques for photographing nudes, the site won't publish them, so why discuss it?

I think you are collapsing two different things, debate and a person's opinion. The first has an obvious endpoint, the second - no endpoint
I don't think the two things are mutually exclusive where the forums are concerned, since there are only two things upon which a decision can be based: fact and opinion.

As Carl Sandburg said, “If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell”

The first thing I do when I look at an unfamiliar poster is check when they joined Literotica, and how many posts they've made. The OP joined in May 2002 (same year and month as me), and has made (as of now) 175 posts. Ive made about 15,000 all told. It takes quite a few posts before you learn how to use this forum, well over 200. It seems that the OP is extra-sensitive to "bad vibes" in the forums. Pair-growing is recommended.

Contrary to your username, you seem to be the opposite of what it is. Your opinion is noted; however, the fact that you made more posts than I did does not make you superior to me. I have a life outside of this crummy forum. So perhaps you need to grow a pair and a hobby. Let me know how that works out for you!

Psst: I read it. Bold move sending me a guide that explains your behavior better than mine. You really didn’t need to demonstrate the subject so vividly.
Look, there's one person in here who said, when an automated system detected that their work might be AI-generated: A) drama posted "well, I guess I'll just delete all my work that I've ever written!" B) started another thread titled "Might get banned for this" C) changed their sig to "If you're looking for a fight, here I am!" and D) lashed out at literally everyone who even slightly criticized her, and it ain't me.

I'd post the "if you run into assholes all day" quote, but someone beat me to it.

They don't want to get to know me; they only want to make it known that I am not welcome here.
You're entirely welcome. Glad you're here. But defending AI, as Emily said, will be an almost impossible sell.

And yes, some people do have strong opinions. But you can also get a lot of help and most people here don't bite.

They welcome sex advertising, barely legal, and incest stories with open arms here, but any AI talk is unwelcome.
"AI talk" is not unwelcome. There are probably 25-30 threads just on AH about AI. But the rules of Literotica are clear and explicit: AI assisted writing is banned. That is not necessarily the rule on other platforms.

When you advocate for or admit to AI use, that's going to be a problem. Not to say there aren't a few AI-written stories here, because no detection system is perfect and we know there have been false positives, so we should logically assume there are false negatives as well. But any AI use -- even so much as letting Grammarly make changes for you -- is not acceptable here at Lit.

Discussion about AI is not wholly unwelcome - there are many threads where it is discussed, ad nauseam - but it is largely pointless given the above restriction.
Much of it is around false positives, or at least alleged false positives, and the system does seem to put out a larger number of them than many of us think it should. As Wanda said, there are numerous threads about the subject. But the rules are clear, as Wanda also pointed out.

Oh... That's only my opinion...
That doesn't match my experience at all.

Straight up.

One thing I'll say about this thread-and I'm not talking about the OP-is it is truly Alt-tastic.

Reminds me of the old General board days except many of those people were less obvious

There are some toxic people here. Most people are nice and trying to be helpful. Some don't like each other. There are posters here whom I know don't like me. I'm OK with that. Most people are friendly and helpful, even when they strongly disagree.
