End of Innocence

Tony Kaye

Hey Millie and all other musical Litsters! Have a relaxing Sunday.
Peace, love and happiness

War of the worlds - the new generation ~ Jeff Wayne. Original Score recreation and reimagining with Liam Neeson, Gary Barlow, Joss Stone

Nice! I only have the original, to which I was referred by a friend I met on the internet, but I go back to it every few years.

As for today, I just finished Black Cab's Call Signs, and am about to launch into Games of the XXI Olympiad, and then probably Altamont Diary, from which the track 1970 sucked me in whole.

Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - Carnage

More spoken word poetry than Cave's usual Prince of Darkness singing. Lyrics are typical though. Dark.

Now you are talking to a major fan of Magenta, so I like how it definitely reminds me of Magenta.

Reed said how he has felt Cyan has been in a need for updating as it was his first, and he had limited funding and experience then. Why now, he found the perfect vocalist (and I agree) with Peter Jones.

So far they have only released Sorcerer. The album comes out Sept. 24th. Reed is on keyboards, Jones on vocals, with Magenta bassist and drummer and the guitarist from Tangent.

I believe he will be focusing on updating the old Cyan material before anything new.

Thanks for the details. So - no Christina - that alone will make it different to Magenta.

I'll keep an eye (and an ear) open for Rob's new release information.

I liked Cyan, and played it a lot. When it morphed into Magenta, I liked it at first, then got bored. Yes, I know - I owe their newer material a few more listens! :)

I saw Magenta live at a ROSfest many years ago, and met Christina briefly. Great stage performance.

At one point the whole band left the stage, and left just Christina and the guitarist (I don't recall his name :( ). He sat on a chair picking on an acoustic guitar, and she curled up on the floor at his feet singing soft, romantic pieces.

Very moving.

Interestingly - she was just a few months into remission from her rather serious bout with cancer.

Triumvirate : Spartacus

Yeah - I know - they've been accused of being an ELP knock-off, and the intro to Spartacus is a clone of the intro to Trilogy.

But I like them...

Ihsahn : The Adversary

I'm sure no one here cares for this music :) but if you have any interest, I'll post my interview with Ihsahn from over a decade ago...
