I think that’s a good approach. It my extended family someone is designated as the coordinator (usually outside the immediate circle of mourners). Their “job” is to coordinate support through the mourning period.

I’m not sure where it originates from, probably a mix of the two cultures (Native American and Great Plains). We also have a set mourning period (1 year) with structured events and roles.

I'm sorry you almost lost your mom, but glad you didn't. I hope she continues doing well for a long time! But it is good to have the conversations, especially before it gets too late... my parents left things almost too late & that made getting some things in order more difficult.

Most of our conversations were centered around emergency situations and DNR. I needed to know, not just my dad. He's older and slowing down...so one of us younguns need the info.
