The Old Republic: A new Era (limited spaces) *OOC*

A Houk sounds good. Fairly tall beings (2 to 2.6 meters), mostly muscle.

I was going to recommend a Barabel, but it turns out that they didn't start leaving their homeworld until a few years into the rule of the Empire.

What's the general feeling about sentient droid characters, allowed? I have a few interesting ideas.

I would think they are allowed, especially considering that there are a few examples in the canon, such as IG-88, and C-3PO and R2-D2 if they qualify.

sentient droids happen allot in star wars... go for it

ok so back to my thing...

dug - houk

or

Toydarian - houk

Okay, an IG-100 MagnaGuard droid, all mindwiped and retrained personally by General Greivous in the lightsaber fighting styles.

They can speak, are capable of working as a squad, independantly piloting complicated vehicles such as spacecraft and make use of most most weaponry.

That's enough mental cognitive ability to justify personality right?

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/IG-100_MagnaGuard

"Following the massacre of the Separatist Council by Darth Vader, under Darth Sidious's orders, the IG-100 MagnaGuards were deactivated"

The concept for the character is that when the MagnaGuards were shut down and stored away, the battle damage (which Greivous wouldn't allow to be repaired earlier) forced IG-116 to remain activated. Lacking directive and with "his" logic core damaged to the point where he cannot tell friend from foe (making him unable to properly decide whether to kill or serve force users he finds) IG-116 wanders the streets of coruscant, seeking a new directive.

They were deployed all over the place so I see no reason why MagnaGuards shouldn't be here.

Also, I say go for Dug - Houk. Something small and fast to complement the big and strong. Plus, I find that flying blue bat so annoying I might try to kill him, nothing personal :).

Really? You want to put a Dug and a Houk together? Dugs are notoriously aggressive and combative. Houks aren't much better.

Toydarians are not nearly as aggressive and ill-mannered as Dugs, but they do have a reputation for being stingy and bad-tempered. Being resistant to Mind Tricks doesn't hurt though.

Why not pair the Houk up with something that's nearly a polar opposite not only in terms of size, but also in temperment? Maybe something with a short attention span or a "why me?" complex.

Agressive and violent members of society often work together, that's how gangs and hit-teams are often formed as the violence weeds out weakness among the ranks.

It just seems far more likely that a Dug would be able to work alongside a Houk by being able to hold his own even in a violent argument when tempers flare. This would force a mutual respect to form or one of the partners would be dominant.

A Toydarian would try to talk or leverage his way out of any violent situation and people tend not to listen so well when their only goal is wrapping their hands around your throat.

He put the choices up there, I just chose the more likely pair. I'm not saying that the other wouldn't work, it's just not as likely unless the Toydarian held some significant power over the Houk in some way.

Yep, that is definitely a polar opposite to a Houk. A Kushiban is not much bigger that your common house cat.

I was thinking a Chandra-Fan that would fill the short co-pilot/mechanic role, and also have a short attention span.

Or you could do a Sullustian that has a "why me?" complex, meaning that he feels like that the universe is out to get him and he doesn't know why, which only reinforced by all the situations his Houk buddy tends to get both of them in.

However, if I must choose between a Dug and a Toydarian to be partnered with a Houk, I really don't think I can. Sorry.

Wow, nice choice. The Houk would never kill a rare partner like a Kushiban, who else could fit in thos small spaces, hide in baggage, and even pretend to be a pet until the time to strike? A valuable ally and a great scout.

Well nobody gave any opinion on my concept so I'm just going to post the CS.

Name: IG-116 (nickname "IGGY")

Age: exact manufacture date unknown, not too long ago

Sex: none (will be playing the personality of a male due to "masculine programming", see wiki)

Race: IG-100 MagnaGuard Droid

Race Attributes: 2 metres tall, grey and blue "skin", darker internal components.

Occupation: Mercenary/Bodyguard (former soldier)

Appearance: Draped in large, dark, baggy robes and trousers to cover his obvious design which would alarm people. Also wearing thick gloves and boots, the only obvious features apparent are his glowing red eyes and tall stature. Beneath his wrappings, Iggy has a gaping hole in the front-left plating of his torso where he was hit by blaster fire. He keeps this closed up with primitive self repair work, welding metal plates over the hole.

Weapons: Iggy's Electrostaff is stored away, as it would be an obvious sign of what he is. Instead he carries a blaster rifle in public. Iggy has extendable arms that can double in length and his limbs contain electromangnets.

Character Background:
"Following the massacre of the Separatist Council by Darth Vader, under Darth Sidious's orders, the IG-100 MagnaGuards were deactivated"

When the MagnaGuards were shut down by Darth Vader, the battle damage sustained by IG-116 forced him to remain in an active state. Lacking directive and with "his" logic core damaged to the point where he cannot tell friend from foe (making him unable to properly decide whether to kill or serve force users he finds) Iggy wanders the streets of Coruscant, seeking a new directive. Iggy finds that at most he can revert to a standby state, using less power but still aware.

He takes on mercenary missions to ensure his budget for self-maintenance and to keep his personal generator running to recharge from. These missions are the closest thing he has to identifying friend from foe as his targets are often pointed out to him or are the agressors. Iggy knows that anyone capable of repairing him will recognise his model and so remains in his damaged state until he can find a master again.

Name: Tikco

Age: 48

Sex: male

Race: Kushiban

Race Attributes: Distinguishing features included large eyes, floppy ears, and a long tail. They were capable of walking on either their hind legs or on all fours, though to move more quickly in a run or a charge, they had to run with all four appendages. On their hind legs they stood at 0.5 meters tall, with an extra 0.3 meters' worth of tail. They were also a species that had a natural affinity to the Force, though it was in such a calm nature that even other Force-users often passed by a Kushiban without realizing the inherit Force potential within the small species. While often mistaken for cute pets, they were actually intelligent beings with a complex culture as well as both a written and spoken language. They mastered fire (used to frighten away hostile, fire-fearing xinkras) and used technology. Rather than paws, they had hands with opposable thumbs and feet. As a means of communication, a Kushiban's fur changed color in correlation to its mood. A Kushiban in a calm, normal state of emotions was white, while a Kushiban in the deepest of despairs was totally black.

Occupation: Smuggler / Odd Jobber

Weapons: a strong affinity to the force and his ability's to naturally clam his Houk friend.

Appearance: Tikco was 0.5 meters tall and 20lbs.

Character Background: Growing up on his home planet Kushibah in the Outer Rim. Though not many even realize the Kushibans are naturally force sensitive they all trained mildly on there own. Through honing there ability they can keep aggressive beings calm and thus avoid most conflict. Tikco was one of the villages best at mood control through the force and was a notable member of the community when an aggressive smuggler landed on the planet the Kushibah Tikco stowed away on board the smugglers vessel and shortly later the Houk assistant brutally killed the dug smuggler. Using his mood control he calmed the houk and quickly they became friends and he took the dugs job.

Name: Ras Grock

Age: 34

Sex: male

Race: Houk

Race Attributes: The Houk were a people with a reputation for raw strength and short tempers. They were very powerful due to their large bulk of pure muscle. They were among the largest and strongest humanoid sentients, rivaled only by species such as the Wookiees for physical power. Though their tempers were not as explosive as those of Wookiees, Houk were known for their tendency to solve problems violently. In politics, they would often wage war without formal declarations, negotiate in bad faith, and ignore treaties. Though this preference for violence tended to cause the Houk problems in dealing with other societies, it often got them what they wanted.

Occupation: Smugglers assistant

Weapons: Himself? oh and a Vibrosword

Appearance: 2.8 Meters tall he was above average even for a Houk. On his home planet slavers had been capturing rare and exotic animals when the slavers found Ras they had to capture him due to his vast size and shier strength, and sent him to a smuggler after he tried to kill several guards.

Character Background: Ras grew up larger then the other Houk's he was expected to lead due to his vast size. shortly after he had risen to a respectable status he was captured by a group of slaver's. After an escape attempt in witch 5 guards where killed 3 wounded he was sold to the highest bidder a dug headed to Kushibah after leaving he felt an unintentional rage and killed the dug shortly after he felt oddly calm and meet a stow away Kushiban who took over the dugs role and for once Ras felt at home.

Well now. A Kushiban and a Houk. This should be interesting.

As for Iggy...well, depending on his personality, he just might fit right in with the other droids that accompany Jodo.

You could hire him for a job, but he wouldn't consider you his actual master. If someone he did think was his master for some reason showed up, on their orders he would turn on you in a second.

Oh well.

Say, aren't you going to put up an IC post for your Bimm?

Coming soon, there are so many situations I could start him off in that it's hard to decide.

Name: Arlissa Konshi ("Arli" or "lissa" for short)

Age: 22

Sex: Female

Race: Kiffar, a species of Near-Humans (clan Konshi)

Race Attributes: Almost identical to Humans except for their Clan face tatoos, some display an ability called Psychometry

About one in a hundred Kiffar had the ability to read the memories of inanimate objects—including formerly animate objects like corpses—by touch, an ability known as psychometry. It was not, however, normal for a Kiffar to be able to read the living. The power could taint the user if the object had been used to execute dark side related actions, like murder. Use of the dark side enabled possessors of the power to use it on living beings, ripping memories from their brains.

Occupation: Tracker/Bounty Hunter

Appearance: 5'6", dark skin, blue eyes, shoulder length very dark brown hair in thin dreadlocks. Always dressed for bad weather in an All-Temperature Cloak, high Magno-Glip boots, thick trousers and an armourweave vest over a Bodyglove suit as well as a thick scarf to cover the mouth and an pair of Flash Goggles. Arli also carries several Illuninescence woven necklace bands under her clothes which can be used as small glowing light sources when held in the hand. Wears a bandolier beneath her cloak to carry her grenades in as well as a reel of Synthrope. Arli keeps ammunition in her belt. She also wears Advanced Stabilizer Gloves to assist with the use of her rifle.

Weapons: DC-15x Sniper Rifle, J1 "Happy Surprise" palm blaster, a stolen Force Pike (aka Stun Pole), Remote Detonators and non-lethal Grenades. Other equipment includes a set of TD 1.4 Electrobinoculars, a Chronometer armband and two twenty metre reels of synthrope.

Character Background: One of the dwindling number of Kiffar, Arli recognised from an early age that she couldn't afford to put her life in the hands of the Jedi order as so many others had and so avoided testing for force sensitivity. The order did not permit strong emotional bonds and the clans were dying out, they needed children.

"Since the Empirical annexation of the Kiffars' homeworlds, 3,500 standard years before the rise of Darth Vader, this race has since diminished in numbers greatly, along with the clan heads and other instigators of the clan-feuds".

The kiffar were spread thin around known space by this point Arli decided the best way to find a suitable partner would be to travel as widely as possible, and so took on a profession using her species natural talents to pursue and sometimes capture or kill people or objects that people values. Occasionally she would even get hired by local law enforcement groups to help track escaped outlaws.

I'm out of time, I'll post some IC for Arli tomorrow.

"Members of this clan distinguished themselves by a blue chevron tattoo on each of their cheeks". There was no visual example of the clan tatoo so I made one up.
